Terminal reader pricing and terms
This article covers processing rates and fees, hardware ownership, and other terms for using a terminal reader with TaxDome Payments.
Note
These rates and terms apply to firms in the United States.Pricing
| Fee | Rate |
|---|---|
| Card processing | 2.65% + $0.30 per transaction |
| American Express | +1% on the standard rate |
| International cards | +1% on the standard rate |
Note
The payment technology fee doesn’t apply to terminal payments, and no other charge can be added on top of a terminal transaction—the client pays exactly the invoice or entered amount.Cellular on the Stripe Reader S710
The Stripe Reader S710 can connect to the internet over a cellular network, so it keeps taking payments when your office Wi-Fi is down or unavailable. The Stripe Reader S700 has no cellular option.
Cellular is off by default—the S710 works over Wi-Fi until you turn cellular on . With cellular on, the reader uses Wi-Fi when it can and switches to cellular automatically when Wi-Fi is unavailable. Cellular data for payments is unlimited.
Cellular costs $10 per reader per month:
-
A reader is charged for any calendar month in which cellular is on, even for one day. The fee isn’t prorated.
-
There’s no charge in months when cellular stays off.
-
Stripe bills the fee to your Stripe account and deducts it from your Stripe balance, so it reduces your payouts.
Refunds
Refunds aren’t processed on the reader itself. Since terminal payments are fully synced with your TaxDome account, issue a refund the same way you would for any other payment—see Process refunds .
Hardware ownership, returns, and warranty
Your firm owns the hardware outright—TaxDome doesn’t lease devices or retain any ownership interest once a reader is purchased and delivered.
Eligible hardware can be returned within 30 days of purchase in its original packaging with all included accessories. Stripe readers also carry a one-year limited warranty covering defective materials and workmanship, excluding cables and other accessories.
Liability and cancellation
Once a reader is delivered, your firm is responsible for its care. If it’s lost, stolen, or damaged after delivery, repair or replacement is only available if it’s still under an active warranty.
If you cancel TaxDome Payments, you keep any hardware you’ve already purchased and can continue using it independently, subject to Stripe’s own terms.
